Monthly Book Club
Our Digital Wellness Book Club meets monthly on topics that impact kids’ mental health. This is an opportunity for parent reflection and connection, regardless of where you are in your parenting journey!
In February, there’s been a BOOK CLUB TAKEOVER by two local middle school principals, bringing us a thoughtful conversation about The New York Times Magazine article, “America’s Children Are Unwell. Are Schools Part of the Problem?”.
Please email us or check your local library for access. As always, reading is not required, and we will have printed copies on site.
See Tech Talk for details.

Monthly Outdoor Family Meet Ups
Get to know our beautiful local, outdoor spaces at monthly SSDW family meet ups! We meet regardless of the weather except in cases of high wind or lightning.
Our next Outdoor Family Meet Up will be at the Wompatuck State Park — Doane Street entrance (152 Doane St, Cohasset) on Saturday, February 7 at 2:00PM. We encourage families to bring bikes and scooters for the kids.

Tech Talk
On February 3 at 7PM at The Collective Co. (400 Gannett Rd, Scituate), Mr. Beattie from Scituate Public Schools and Mr. Scopelleti from Cohasset Public Schools are taking over our Monthly Book Club to discuss a NYT Magazine article on academic pressure and youth mental health. Preregistration is required for no-cost tickets. Please come, listen, and engage with curiosity and kindness.
SSDW meets monthly at the Scituate Town Library to discuss new initiatives, upcoming events, and ongoing programming. These meetings are child-friendly and open to the public. We welcome you to drop in anytime.
Our next Community Meeting is Friday, February 6 from 11:00AM-12:00PM downstairs in the Scituate Town Library Program Room. We'll be planning our Spring Event calendar.
Social Networking #IRL
We partner with aligned community groups on in-person events that help South Shore families learn, play, and connect #IRL. If you have ideas for community partnerships, please get in touch. We’d be happy to do what we can to make them happen!
New Scituate Rec Offering:
Wampatuck Winter Days Kids Club
In an effort to bring play to more local families, SSDW approached Scituate Recreation Department to develop a regular source of relaxed, mixed age play after school with a new indoor winter play club. One of our Directors will be running the program as a new town-wide offering on Mondays and Thursdays after school from mid-January into early April 2026.
Registered kids in the program enjoy a solid hour of creative socialization with craft stations, card games, legos, and board games. Spots for the program are full.
We are still seeking high school teens and local senior volunteers to support multigenerational playmaking. Volunteer slots are one-time or recurring.
Follow the volunteer sign up link for more details!

Other recent events have included a playful art pop up “Creative Refuse Jam” at Scituate’s St. Luke’s Church with The Spare Studio of Rockland, “Log Off & Lace Up!”, parent-and-child fitness classes with CrossFit SciCoh of Cohasset, and a “Garden Clean Up” with SELA: The International Private School of Norwell/Hingham at Appleton Field Community Garden in Scituate.
Scituate Parent Updates
This is a list of known relevant school and community discussions. We want to help parents share and coordinate school day-related concerns with their child’s teacher and principal, local school council, PTO, and school committee. Please contact us if you would like to be put in contact with a parent partner from your school for additional information.
We have monthly meetings at the library to touch base at a district-wide level; please join us!
We also want to grow a parent-led community to enhance activities children can engage in outside of the school day. It takes a village! We want to grow that supportive mentality and provide outlets for both parents and children to connect in the real world.
